JIAYI LI
Sound and Design
ARTIST BIO
Jiayi Li is a sound artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She has a diverse interest in Film, Television, Live Music and Installation Art. Born and raised in Beijing, she has played piano since 2001. Later her practice spans photography and video. She received her B.A. in Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College with a focus on Audio Production and Sound Design.
A major theme in Jiayi’s work is hyperrealism: with a passion for video games from an early age, she aims to recreate the psychoacoustics of the environment using foley, synthesizers, and samples from music libraries. She tries to capture every detail with great attention and finds the challenging aspect of designing sounds from scratch to be a reflection of how we perceive sounds every day without consciously thinking about it.
Jiayi is currently working on Chassidy David’s BFA narrative film Missing First Period.
